The difference between Fiber Cement Board and Calcium Silicate Board

Fiber Cement Board and Calcium Silicate Board are the normally decorative building materials, the ingredients in some parts are same. Now we will list the common and different points, please see the contents as below:

Common Points

1.       The ingredients are almost same which include the Silicon sand, Calcium and Fiber

2.       Both are through the pulping, papermaking and molding

3.       The surface and size are same

4.       Application almost same such as Internal and External Wall , Ceiling.

Difference Point

 Fiber cement board is made by cement,fiber etc..which through the pulping,papermaking, Finally the machine compressed the molding. Calcium Silicate Board is made by the calcium and fiber which through the papermaking. Finally it is made for the calcium silicate board under the high temperature steaming-compressed.

1. Raw materials: Calcium Silicate Board used the small cement, Sand and fly ash instead of cement, for fiber cement board, the main raw materials is Portland cement.
2. Fiber Cement Board must have the compressed machine,calcium silicate board usually don’t have the compressed machine
3.  The fiber cement board color usually is cement color and calcium silicate board usally is white color or grey black color.

Why does the cement board crack ?

The reason for the cement board crack as below:

1.       Fiber cementboard as for the decorative materials, it must be stick to the major structure used for the ceiling and partition. Sometimes the major structure cannot meet the requirements in the design and installation part, such as the building lean, crack caused to the distortion because of the uneven foundation. Fiber Cement Board stick to the building surface or the fixed to the light steel kneel, the weak fiber cement board joined part will be cracked basis on the main structure infection.

2.       The main materials for fiber cement board is the cements which is easy to water obsorption,moisture will be swell and dry will be shrink. According to the standard JC/T412.1-2006, the steam-curing swell of fiber cement board is less than 0.5%,compressed steam-curing swell of fiber cement board is less than 0.25%, middle density fiber cement board water absorption is less than 40%, high density fiber cement board water absorption is less than 28%.

3.       Whatever Ceiling or Partition, Fiber cement board must be fixed to Light steel Kneel which makes the fiber cement board joins crack or not.

4.       The joins materials is good or bad makes the fiber cement board joins crack

5.       Design and installation makes the fiber cement board joins crack.  

Mgo board VS Gypsum Board

MgO board has different characteristics than gypsum. It can be scored and snapped but better results come from cutting with carbide saws and shaping with routers.  Attachment can be done using a nail gun, which results in much faster construction time or screws that are able to self countersink work. MgO board generally has superior strength than gypsum for impact, fastener holding, and shear applications. A single screw in a 12 mm board can hold 200 lbs in shear and half that amount in tension. Due to its hardness, Corner and J beads are not required. Joints do not have to be on a stud and it is possible to go from board installation to painting the same day. Moreover, because of its stiffness, thinner boards can be used. Ten millimeter or three eighth inch works well  for walls  and eight millimeter can be used for ceilings.
